Aga porridge

What could be better for breakfast on a cold day than a bowl of warming and sustaining porridge, it is wheat free and when made with water will be dairy-free too –  this slow method of cooking in the aga will ensure that the porridge has the most wonderful creamy consistency.

Aga porridge

Serves 3

  • 150g porridge oats
  • 1200 ml water

Put the porridge oats and water in a pan and bring to the boil and then simmer for 2 minutes before placing with a lid on in the simmering oven. Leave overnight. It will taste like it has been made with cream! Add honey and fruit to serve.

If you do not have an aga just simmer the porridge on the top for 10 minutes, stirring as you go.

If you need to pack in more nutrients you can of course make this with milk, there are so many delicious, dairy free options now, so if you want to keep it dairy free try coconut, hazelnut or almond – all are in our supermarkets.
